Hattie Cooper Best & Valerie A. Cooper are the daughters of North Carolina businessman and entrepreneur, Harley W. Cooper. During the 1980’s, Mr. Cooper acquired approximately 100 acres of raw, semi-waterfront property located along the Inner Banks of North Carolina (Oriental, NC) as part of an overall buy-and-hold real estate strategy. Newly dubbed as Cooper’s Landing, Valerie and Hattie are now seeking to develop the area into a live/work/play space that will service the needs of Oriental’s diverse sailing community as well as the local residents.

Philanthropy

In addition to servicing the sailing community and local needs, Valerie & Hattie have formed Cooper Worth Wiggins, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, to expose youth in underserved communities to the sailing lifestyle, considering that the estate is minutes away from (2) of the largest Sailing Camps in the country (Camp Sea Gull & Camp Seafarer).
